Nancy Mozzachio Files Lawsuit Against Cedar Realty’s CEO
Cedar Realty’s CEO namely Bruce Schanzer is now facing charges of pay discrimination and sexual harassment as filed by their former Chief Operating Officer namely Nancy H. Mozzachio. It is just waiting for a Brooklyn judge to be deciding if the lawsuit has more merit to proceed.
According to Nancy Mozzachio, based on the lawsuit she filed on November 2 regarding Schanzer, she claims that the CEO leered regularly at women working in the workplace and made comments that are uncalled for. Schanzer is used to calling Nancy Mozzachio ‘babe’ as well as commenting about her breasts. After bringing on her desk a coffee cup from Dunkin Donuts, she claimed that he made a comment about bringing some double Ds to work. Furthermore, Schanzer is also accused of giving groping hugs that are unwanted to the one filing the case.
By the time that Nancy H. Mozzachio filed her case to the court for pay disparity and sexual harassment, the company has then decided that it be best for them to fire her. Come February 2016 when she was done getting some outside help for the sexual harassment case she was filing against the Cedar’s CEO, she was then terminated for her job. Based on her claims, after her meeting was canceled on the spot, she was then being told by the company that she will be terminated the next week.
By a 2015 external investigator probe, Cedar Realty decided to investigate these allegations. Even if these investigations were being done by the company, Nancy Mozzachio says that the investigator always stepped back when they were allegations of sexual harassment to Schanzer by the female employees. One of the reports of the Wall Street Journal has even gotten some claim from one female employee who has been asked by Schanzer what color her underwear is. As per Mozzachio, all the lawsuit charges against Schanzer were just settled in the form of payroll payments to keep them quiet from the investors.
Nancy Mozzachio has found some success in the company. In 2003, she became the director of leasing and then was promoted vice president by 2004, while in the year 2014, she then became the chief operating officer. According to what she is filing, she complains that she is only getting smaller bonuses as well as lower salaries being the chief operating officer compared to the chief financial officer when in fact she must get them in higher amount. Cedar Realty expectedly denied the charges and as per findings, the allegations were without merit.
Nancy H. Mozzachio is still coming back for more after this denial. She will continue fighting for the right of women working in a safer workplace.
